Hyaluronic acid
This substance is naturally produced by our bodies to help moisturise and protect tissues. Hyaluronic acid can be found at high, medium or low molecular weight. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid: creates a protective film on the uppermost layer of skin, keeping water in tissues from evaporating and thereby preserving moisture over time. Medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid: increases the elasticity of the skin. Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid acts deeper in the skin and helps reduce wrinkles.
Ceramide-3
Ceramides are bio-mimetic lipids, which means that they are normally present in the structure of the skin, and perform the important function of keeping cells together, thus maintaining the integrity of the structure and function of the skin barrier. The ceramide content in the skin decreases with age, and this is one of the factors that contributes to signs of skin dryness and ageing, such as wrinkles and fine lines.
Ceramide III helps to keep the structure of the skin intact, therefore helping to reduce water loss, keeping the skin hydrated and reducing wrinkles.
